Vacature HvA research programme Urban Technology

For our research program Urban Technology we invite applicants for a junior researcher position for a period of 2 years. This is part of the INTERREG funded SEEV4-City project (solar energy and electric mobility for the city). The position will focus on data and energy analysis.

The position

You will be involved in the data analysis and energy modelling work package of the SEEV4city project under the guidance of a senior researcher. Research will be carried out in close contact and in collaboration with project partners. In addition you will elaborate scientific papers and participate in project conferences. In carrying out the research you are part of the project team of the HvA with close collaboration with other partners on relevant topics.

We are looking for

You have completed a relevant Master study in a technical or natural science or a multidisciplinary field such as innovation studies or technology and management, with a strong focus on data analysis. You have modelling experience (experience with the R data analysis software is a pre) and a background in the energy field. You have strong analytical and reporting skills. You have minimal 3 years work experience. You have good verbal and written English and Dutch skills. Preferably you have affinity with sustainable mobility.

The project

The SEEV4-City project is a European innovation project that involves partners from 4 countries. Duration of the project is 3,5 years, and started September 2016. The project is aimed at studying synergy effects in the growth of electric vehicles, solar electricity generation, use of electric vehicles of buffers and smart grids. By carrying out applied research, in close collaboration with city partners and relevant stakeholders as well as implementing and monitoring practical pilots in the city of Amsterdam, this project aims to contribute to service development and optimization of the rollout of electric vehicles and sustainable energy generation in city environments. HvA is the coordinator of the project, with the city of Amsterdam and the ArenA as project partners from the Netherlands.

We offer a diverse and dynamic position in a challenging and friendly environment. Salary scale 10 (cao-hbo collective agreement for Universities of Applied Sciences) applies to the position of onderwijs-onderzoeksmedewerker 1. The gross salary is maximum € 4094,- per month based on full-time employment.

The post will initially involve a temporary appointment for one year and extension will be dependent on demonstrated suitability for the post and the possibilities for creating a permanent position.

Information

Urban Technology is part of the Faculty of Technology. It focuses on providing smart technological solutions for the city. The program has a current staff of 7 professors and about 45 fte researchers. The faculty includes 6.614 students in engineering, logistics and built environment.

Within Smart Energy Systems, an enthusiastic team of about 10 fte is studying the use of the public charging infrastructure for electric vehicles. In this field, we work closely together with the four largest municipalities and leading companies in this area in The Netherlands. Based on a unique set of charging data, the team.
